Two men shot at by assailants for opposing molestation attempt

In a shocking incident, two persons received gun shots injuries for opposing a molestation attempt against two minor girls in west Delhi’s Tilak Nagar area. The accused have been identified but are currently absconding.
The incident took place on late Monday evening when three minor girls were returning to their residence in Tilak Nagar. Mid-way they were stopped by three persons who passed lewd comments and tried to molest them. Two passerbys took note of the act and tried to intervene.
According to police, the moment two individuals shouted at the accused and instructed them to stop, they opened fire. As a result of the firing, two bullets hit both persons, who opposed the act.
‘The accused fired five rounds and the empty shells have been recovered’, the police official said.
Soon after firing, the accused managed to escape from the spot. One of the victims called the police control room and a team reached the spot and they rushed the injured to the nearest hospital. Their condition is stated to be critical.
‘We have recovered CCTV footage from the spot and on the basis of the footage the accused have been identified. They are currently absconding. However a man-hunt is on to nab them’, the official added.
A case has been registered at Tilak Nagar police station and the accused have been slapped with charges of attempt to murder and molestation. ‘Statements of the victims and the injured men have been recorded. Further investigation is underway’, the official said.

Class VIII student fights off rape attempt by neighbours
New Delhi: In a shocking incident, four juveniles have been apprehended for allegedly molesting and attempting to rape a 13-year-old girl inside her house in Patel Nagar area on Monday evening. According to police, the incident took place when the victim, a class VIII student, was alone at her house.
It is said that the four juveniles, who live in the neighbourhood, hatched a conspiracy. The juveniles then entered into the victim’s house on the false pretext of seeking a particular text book. However, they started molested her once they entered the premises.
The accused, according to the victim, even gagged her and attempted to rape her but she bravely fought them off and spurned their advances. Thereafter, the accused fled the spot. After her parents arrived to the house, the victim narrated the entire episode to them. The parents then approached the local police and had a case registered against the accused over the victim’s statement.
The victim, meanwhile, was taken to a nearby hospital where she was given medical assistance for bruises she had sustained during the struggle.
‘The offending juveniles were produced before the Juvenile Justice Board on Tuesday, which sent them to a remand home’, said a senior police officer, adding that further investigations into the case are underway.
