Two men crushed to death at Sarai Kale Khan

Two men in their early 20s were crushed to death by a truck at south-east Delhi’s Sarai Kale Khan on late Sunday night. According to police, the deceased, identified as Aman (24) and Rajesh (25), were piling on a bullet motorcycle. At around 1 am, they were returning to their residence in Noida and in the middle of the road the tyre of the motorcycle burst and Aman, who was riding the vehicle lost control.

As a result, they fell on the main road near Sarai Kale Khan bus stand and got dragged for few meters. In the meantime, the driver of an over-speeding truck that was passing by from the road failed to see the duo lying on ground and overran them, thus crushing them to death.
‘The bursting of the tyre and the accident by the truck took place in fraction of seconds that is why the incident could not be averted,’ the official said.

After the accident the truck driver who was later identified as Dhani Ram (45) fled the spot. He was later arrested from Ashram area after the accident message was flaged to all the PCR vans patrolling in the night. Meanwhile, the victims were rushed to the nearby hospital where doctors pronounced them dead on arrival.

They hailed from Bihar and were living in a rented accommodation in Noida. They worked in a private company in Noida. Preliminarily examination suggests that both the riders of the motorcycle and the truck were at excessive speed.

A case of negligence and rash driving was registered against the driver in the Sarai Kale Khan police station. The family of the victims have been informed and police said that the body was handed over to them after an autopsy report.
