Two hospital staffs, three DJB employees suspended

To track down corruption and dereliction of duty, Delhi health and PWD minister Satyendra Jain conducted a surprise check at the Lal Bahadur Shashtri Hospital and with immediate effect suspended an executive engineer and an assistant engineer for misreporting and dereliction of duties.

During his surprise visit, Jain found that the maintenance at the hospital was slack and after ascertaining facts from concerned departments and officials, Vivek Verma, the assistant engineer responsible for maintenance was put under suspension.

Executive engineer, Abhishek Kumar Sngha, was also placed under suspension for misreporting facts before the minister.

Similarly, the Delhi Jal Board has also suspended three officials on charges of corruption and has decided to refer this case to the Anti- Corruption Branch (ACB) and report the loss caused to the DJB by their act of corruption.

According to the Delhi Jal Board spokesperson, the three had allegedly connived in sewer-line projects. The projects were only on paper and no work was done on ground.

Those placed under suspension are one executive engineer (SP Singh), one assistant engineer Surender Pal Singh Rana and one account officer Jai Pal Sharma.

The case came into light after the DJB ordered special audit of the works executed by Sewer Development Works Division by the Board. Audit reports were later forwarded to the vigilance department.
