Two held for stealing motorcycles, snatching

Two persons have been arrested for stealing motorcycles and then abandoning them after using them for snatching, police said on Thursday. ‘The duo was arrested from two different places by a special team. Mahender Meena, a resident of J J Colony in Khanpur, was arrested on last Monday when he was roaming on a stolen bike in Ambedkar Nagar area,’ a senior police official said. He added that Guddu alias Deepak Kumar, also a resident of J J Colony in Khanpur, was arrested today. Police got the information that an autolifter operating in south Delhi was coming to Ambedkar Nagar to steal a bike. He was identified by the informer and was stopped at a picket  in Madangir. ‘He was arrested after he failed to produce vehicle’s documents. On interrogation, he said he and his associate Guddu had stolen the motorcycle 15 days ago from Tughlakabad Extension area,’ said Ajay Chaudhry ACP south-east district.

Police also recovered 12 mobile phones, the duo had snatched earlier, the official said. During interrogation, they said they first used to steal a bike parked in the street or an unattended parking and then use it for snatching. After snatching, they would leave the bike.
