Two held for attacking eatery

Five days after the north-east Delhi restaurant attack, Delhi police have arrested two accused on Sunday but the main accuse, Dinesh, and some others are still absconding. The restaurant management has handed over the CCTV footage to the police.
The incident took place on 31 October when a local gang of 12 attacked Rasoi restaurant in Dilshad Garden late evening. Also, a head constable who intervened was brutally beaten up by the assailants. The policeman is still in critical condition.
The two accused who have been arrested have been identified as Jay Karan and Puneet. They are in their early 20s and are residents of Dilshad Garden. Both of them are ex-employed by a private firm in Noida.
According to the police, as per the CCTV footage, five more have been noticed. The police are interrogating the arrested two to identify the absconding accused members. The assailants have criminal background and have been accused of threatening the locals and beating people up routinely.
Hari Gupta, the owner of the restaurant, told the police that Dinesh Pahlwaan, a well-known gunda of the area entered the restaurant along with a dozen men with hockey sticks and baseball bats. They started beating up the customers and had also broken the furniture.
When the staff intervened, they open fired from the pistols that they were carrying. They attacked the owner also. Later, when a cop who was passing by, noticed the fight and went inside to sort out the matter. But the gang members have brutally beaten the policeman with the sticks and baseball bat. ‘They managed to escape when they realised that other cops might come to the rescue. The injured were taken to the nearby GTB hospital. The policeman suffered maximum injuries. His head wound has 12 stitches. Multiple fractures were also noticed on his body,’ the official added.
Earlier on 22 October, Dinesh had come into the restaurant and had dinner. He tried to leave without paying the bill. But when the owner objected, Dinesh has allegedly threatened him. The owner had lodges a complaint but no action was taken.
