Two die in mishaps

In two separate incidents in south-east Delhi, two persons were killed in road accidents on Monday. In both cases, the accident took place due to rash and negligent driving.

In the first incident, a 57-year-old guard, who was on a bicycle, was killed by a motorcyclist. The incident took place in Okhla Phase-1. The biker was on high speed and he rammed into the bicycle. The accused has been identified as Jaswant Singh, a resident of Kalkaji. The victim was identified as Surender Pal and he was returning home. According to Rishkesh Sharma, son of the deceased, both were returning from their on separate bicycles.

Local police was informed about the incident and with the help of cops, Surender was immediately rushed to AIIMS Trauma Centre. There the doctors declared him dead on arrival. Jaswant was  arrested from the crime scene itself. A case of rash and negligent driving causing death has been registered against him.

The second incident was reported from New Friends Colony, where a Tata Truck has crushed a motorcycle  after jumping a red light. The victim was crushed under the wheels. Police  immediately took him to a nearby hospital, were he was declared dead on arrival.

‘We have arrested the truck driver and taken the truck into custody. A case of negligent driving causing death has been registered against the driver, who hails from Bihar,’ said a police official.
