Two cops dismissed on rape charges

On Sunday, two Delhi police constables were dismissed on charges of trying to sexually assault an underprivileged girl in north-west Delhi’ Mukherjee Nagar area. The duo have been booked on charges of molestation and POSCO Act. They have been sent to police remand for one day.
The accused officers have been identified as Amit Tomar and Gurjinder Singh. Both were posted as constables at Mukherjee Nagar police station. The victim was reportedly roaming near Vikaspuri police lines with two other girls when Tomar lured them to his colleague’s residence in Kingsway Camp.
He took them to Singh’s room the latter was already present at the spot. Both of them tried to force themselves on the young girl. On hearing the girl’s cries, the two other friends who were in the other room, also started crying for help,’ N.Gnana Sambandhan, deputy commissioner of police (north-west) said.
A PCR call was made by someone who heard the cries and a police team reached the spot. All three girls were rescued and the duo was arrested. After the medical examination of the victim, a case under section 509 (molestation), 120 B (criminal conspiracy), 34 (act done by several persons
with common intention) of the Indian Penal Code and appropriate sections of POSCO Act have been registered against the duo cops.
A Special Investigation team under the supervision of Pramod Kushwaha, additional DCP (south district) has been constituted and investigation of the case has been taken up.
