Two arrested for brandishing firearms

Two people were arrested for brandishing firearms in a procession at Kandi in Murshidabad district on Tuesday in which flags of ruling Trinamool Congress were also seen.

A senior police officer said that two were arrested from Kandi but chose not to divulge their political affiliation if any.

Police had on Tuesday said it had received video footage of the procession and were trying to identify the people who brandished pistols to initiate further action against them.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had earlier in the day told the assembly that orders were given to police immediately afterwards to arrest those involved in the Tuesday’s incident.
