Tune into melody

if melodies If melodies attract you and if language is no bar, lend an ear to singer Rini Mukherjee who is out with her fourth album Swapnanil. The album is an assortment of modern Bengali songs which encapsulate a variety of moods.

The album brings together Rini's mellifluous voice with music direction by Kundan Saha. Swapnanil contains the tuneful glides with gay abundance of melody for romantic songs. The album is not confined to any specific mood. Rini's versatility comes out brilliantly in the album with its wide variety of songs of different genres.

There is folk and then there are soft melodies that provide a glimpse of nature. Songs like
Achena
Akash and Megher Paloke are worth mentioning for the composition and soothing music. The joviality and momentum of the folk song Jhumka Dimure is fascinating. There is also a devotional song — Jai Durga.

Apart from being a singer, Rini, is also a postgraduate in commerce and an MBA in finance. She is an exponent of Indian light classical music, Nazrul Geeti and contemporary music.

She learnt her craft from the likes of Padma Bhusan maestro Pandit Rajan and Sajan Mishra, Pandit Jawala Prasad, Biswajit Chatterjee and Ustad Tanveer Ahmed Khan.

She was also recently awarded the Chitragupta Award and Women Achievers Award in the Capital.
