Truckers to go on nationwide strike today

Apex transporters body AIMTC on Wednesday said it will proceed on a nationwide strike from tomorrow demanding scrapping of the present toll system and ‘one-time’ payment of taxes, even as the government appealed them to call off the move. While talks with the government failed to stop the ‘Chakka-Jam’, the All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC) said essential services would be excluded from the strike, although another transporters’ body <g data-gr-id="7">AITWA</g> decided to keep away completely from the action.
