Truck topples on auto; kills three, injures two

Three persons were killed while two others were critically injured when a speeding truck overturned on an auto on NH24 late in the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday. Police said that the incident took place during an attempt to overtake the auto which was ferrying passengers. The accident also led to a long traffic snarl on the highway which connects the national Capital to Western UP.

Police said that the accident took place around 2 am near the CISF cut on the highway when an auto, which was full with passengers, was going towards Noida’s Sector 62 from Vijay Nagar area of Ghaziabad. When the auto was taking a turn, a truck going in <g data-gr-id="41">same</g> direction lost control and toppled on it. As the truck was over-loaded and was in high speed, it damaged the auto completely leaving the occupants in pools of blood. After hitting the <g data-gr-id="40">auto</g> the truck turned turtle several times before hitting the divider.

The impact of the accident was so high that three persons including the auto driver died on the spot while two others suffered grievous injuries. The errant truck driver was also injured. A passer-by made a PCR call and the victims were admitted to a private hospital where three were declared brought dead while two were admitted in the ICU. Police identified the deceased as Ravi, <g data-gr-id="31"><g data-gr-id="36">Satender</g></g> and the auto-driver Shrawan and the two injured as Parvinder and Rajat, all local residents.

As the area falls under the jurisdiction of the Noida Police, a case was registered at Sector 58 police station against the truck driver. “We have sent the bodies for post-mortem examination and have admitted the injured persons to a hospital. We have also informed the families of the victims,” said a senior police officer investigating the matter.
