On Thursday evening, the Delhi police managed to nab all the four accused involved in hatching the robbery. The accused persons included an employee and an ex-employee of the transport company that had a tie-up with Samsung for transporting the goods. The looted products worth Rs 26 crore and the truck have been recovered.
According to police, the truck belonging to A to Z Transport Company was going from Palam Airport to Noida Phase-II. The truck was containing the components of Samsung mobile phones. At around 12.40 am, the truck driven by Ghanshyam reached Road No 13, opposite Apollo hospital, where two men stopped their car in front of the truck and robbed it. Ghanshyam is a resident of Sector-80, Noida and is an employee of A to Z Transport Company.
“A white Santro car overtook the truck at an isolated place and two men got out of and thrashed the driver. One of them threatened him with a knife and instructed him to get off the truck. The driver followed their instructions and handed over the truck to them. One of the accused drove the truck away, while the other escaped in his Santro car,” a police official privy to investigation said, quoting driver’s statement.
In the meantime, another truck of A to Z company, which was also headed that way, stopped at the crime incident. The driver was identified as Sarvesh. He immediately made a call to the police control room and a PCR team reached the spot. A case under relevant sections of the IPC was registered at the Sarita Vihar police station.
“During the investigation, on suspicion, the mobile phone of Sarvesh was scanned. It was found that Sarvesh had called one Pramod several times before the robbery. Also, after making a PCR call he called him again to update. Later, it was learnt that Pramod was an ex-employee of the transport company but because of his bad character he was sacked,” sources told Millennium Post.
On sustained interrogation, Sarvesh confessed his involvement in the crime and told police that he, along with three more persons, including Pramod had hatched the conspiracy. Pramod was the mastermind in the case, while Sarvesh was providing inside details to him. The other two accused have been identified as Vinod and Lokesh, sources added.
“They have been arrested from various places, including Mathura, Western and Central Uttar Pradesh. They revealed that after the robbery, they uploaded the looted products in another vehicle in Hathras in UP. They left the looted truck in the same area and ran away with the products in another truck,” the source said.
Further investigation is underway, the senior police official said.
