Triple murder case: Police team sent to probe mysterious death of suspect

A new angle emerged in the Uttam Nagar triple murder case when the body of one of the ‘suspects’ was found near a railway track at Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday morning.

The deceased was identified as Deepak, who was the husband of Deepmala’s sister. Deepmala (34), wife of an excise inspector, and her two children – aged seven and ten – were found murdered inside their apartment in west Delhi’s Uttam Nagar on June 1 evening.

The cause of Deepak’s death, however, remained a mystery till Saturday evening.

“After getting the news about Deepak’s body being found near the rail tracks at Saharanpur, a team of three police officials, led by Uttam Nagar SHO, was rushed to Saharanpur on Saturday afternoon, said Pushpendra Kumar,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (West).

According to a source, the death of Deepak has reduced the list of suspects to seven persons, Deepmala’s husband Amit Kumar being one of them. All suspects now happen to be members of a close circuit of friends and relatives. During questioning, Amit had once listed Deepak’s name as one of the suspects in the case.

A source further informed that Deepak was being questioned about his whereabouts constantly after the incident took place and his name reportedly emerged as one of the suspects.

He reportedly left home on late Friday night. In the next morning, his body was found near the railway tracks at Saharanpur. The police later ascertained Deepak’s identity from documents recovered from his pocket.
