A day after a 34-year-old woman along with her two children was found murdered with their throats slit at their residence in West Delhi's Uttam Nagar area, Delhi Police have not given a clean chit to Amit Kumar, husband of the deceased.
The incident came to light on Monday evening when Amit (38), excise inspector, returned home after work. They were living in a rented accommodation at the third floor of a four-storey building in Uttam Nagar. He spotted that the main door was locked from outside. “Amit tried to call his wife—Deepmala (34), but she did not respond. Few minutes later, he went to the house at <g data-gr-id="40">fourth</g> floor and had tea.
After 15 minutes, he went to their balcony at the <g data-gr-id="29">back side</g> of the floor and spotted that the back doors of his floor were ajar and sound of ceiling fan was audible,” a police official said quoting one of the neighbour.
“After sensing some foul-play, he went to the third floor of the adjacent house and managed to climb to his balcony. As the gate was open he entered inside and spotted his wife lying in a pool of blood. He then found out his two children-- Saksham (9) and <g data-gr-id="45">Shaili</g> (2) in the bathroom with their throats slit. He then made a call to the police control room and a team of cops broke the locked door,” he added.
During <g data-gr-id="36">investigation</g>, it was learnt that it was a 12-year-old love marriage. Soon after marriage they were often seen fighting over pity issues. In the <g data-gr-id="35">preliminarily</g> investigation, it seems that the accused had a very friendly entry and exit from the crime scene.
An official privy to <g data-gr-id="41">investigation</g> said, “In <g data-gr-id="44">general,</g> if a person kills someone he prefers to leave the place as soon as possible. But here, the accused had searched the lock kept inside the house, then locked the door and managed to flee. It proves that the accused is well aware of the fact where the lock was kept and was fearless of being caught.”
“We are questioning Amit and his call details are being scanned. Apart from suspecting his involvement, we are also investigating the case in all plausible angles,” the official added.
