Trinamool pledges support to GST

 A senior party leader said, “We are ready to support the government for any kind of people-friendly policy.”

However, the party seemed to be opposing the Centre on relaxing FDI in many important sectors, likes, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, defence, infrastructure etc. 

“We have opposed FDI reforms in many areas as it is without proper regulation and might affect the society in various ways,” he added.

Earlier, the party supremo and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee had spoken in support of Narendra Modi-led NDA government over GST. 

She said, “We are fighting for GST as it will help industry with single point tax instead of multiple layers of taxation. Our Finance Minister Amit Mitra is leading the committee on GST and I think in the next couple of meetings, it will be resolved.”

Meanwhile, the oppositions termed TMC’s support to the Centre as tacit understanding between BJP and TMC.
