Trilokpuri back to normal, locals sing national anthem together

Interestingly, people from both the communities sang the national anthem together to inculcate sense of harmony in the area.

On Thursday, the prohibitory orders were relaxed from 6 am to 6 pm by Delhi Police. While the
shops in the area opened, the schools and government offices remained closed for the day.

The police officials are keeping close vigil in the area, especially during night hours. According to a senior police officer, ‘The dark hours in the violence-hit areas remain crucial that is why we have not lifted Section 144. Some disturbing elements may create ruckus during the night. Therefore,  as a precautionary measure we are continuing with the prohibitory orders and heavy deployment of force.’

On Thursday morning, mini-drones mounted with cameras were again used by Delhi police to keep a tab on the celebration of Chhath Puja in the area.

Trilokpuri, divided into 36 blocks, is being manned by over 1,000 security personnel from Delhi Police, Rapid Action Force and Central Reserve Police Force, along with over 30 police vans, water cannons and riot control vehicles.

The senior police officers also met the residents and appealed for peace. ‘We are planning to work with people more closely to promote communal harmony. Maintaining peace and unity in the areas is our top priority, ‘ Sanjay Baniwal, Joint Commissioner of Police (Eastern Range) said.
