Tribal girl raped by headmaster in Chhattisgarh

A 15-year-old tribal girl was allegedly raped several times for over a period of three years by a government school headmaster in Chhattisgarh’s Kondagaon district, following which she became pregnant, police said on Monday.

“The victim delivered a baby last <g data-gr-id="14">month</g> but the incident came to light only yesterday when she approached <g data-gr-id="13">police</g> and lodged a complaint in this connection,” Kondagaon Additional Superintendent of Police Nivedita Sharma said.

Based on the complaint, a case has been registered with <g data-gr-id="16">Makdi</g> police station against the headmaster of the primary school, <g data-gr-id="17">Jhakarpara</g> Madhav <g data-gr-id="18">Naag</g> (52), for sexually exploiting the minor, Sharma said.

A police team has been sent to <g data-gr-id="19">Naag’s</g> native place-<g data-gr-id="20">Sihawa</g> in Dhamtari to arrest him, she added. The victim studies in class IX at government high school in <g data-gr-id="21">Jhakarpara</g>. “<g data-gr-id="22">Naag</g> had been sexually exploiting the girl since last three years on the pretext of ensuring her good marks in the annual examinations,” Sharma said.
