Transport dept official remanded for taking bribe

A senior official of Delhi government’s transport department was remanded on Tuesday in 14-day judicial custody following his arrest for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe from his colleague nearing retirement for forwarding his pension files. Rajeev Kumar Arora, the Administrative Officer in the transport department, was remanded in judicial custody by Special Judge Sangita Dhingra Sehgal. A team of Anti-Corruption Branch of Delhi government had apprehended Arora on 5 November from the transport department’s headquarters while accepting Rs 10,000 from complainant K K Sharma.  Sharma had approached ACB on 5 November alleging he was nearing retirement and asked Arora to forward his pension files. He alleged Arora demanded a bribe of Rs 50,000 from him and asked him to hand him the first installment of Rs 10,000 the same day. Arora has been booked under various provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
