Transparent recruitment process soon: Kejriwal

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has announced his government would adopt a transparent recruitment process while making all appointments that comes under state discretion and which were so far being done on the basis of political considerations. The government will now invite applications from non-political candidates for coveted posts like standing counsels, public prosecutors, statuary commissions and boards.

‘We will set a new precedent of appointing non-political people in boards, commissions and other bodies where there is discretion to do so. We will do away with the existing procedure of lawyers with political affiliations being appointed as government counsels. The government has also decided to advertise the posts of its standing counsel, public prosecutors and other government appointed counsels to get good quality lawyers in its legal team,’ said Kejriwal to media persons on the occasion of completing one month in office.

He added the government has already invited applications for filling up posts of governing body members in 28 DU funded colleges. It has also decided to adopt the same procedure in other institutions like the DCW. Political appointments are made in Wakf Boards, Delhi Haj Committee, Mandis, Delhi Tourism, NDMC, for the post of chairman of OBC, SC and  ST commissions among others. He also recounted the achievements of his one-month old government and said the controversies never affected his government’s functioning.
