Enraged by rejection in love, a 20-year-old resident of Ghaziabad killed four persons including his sister-in-law and the girl he desired before killing himself on Monday in the Bindapur area of south-west Delhi.
'The accused Ravi, 20, a resident of Nangla Firozpur in Sehani Gate police station area of Ghaziabad, had come a day earlier to south-west Delhi's Bindapur, where his cousin Naveen Malik and his wife Renu Malik, 24, lived in a rented accommodation. He shot Renu and pumped two bullets in the abdomen of Sheila Garg, 53, the landlady of Maliks, on Monday morning after a verbal argument,' said A K Ojha, deputy commissioner of police [south-west]. Ravi desired Renu's younger sister Shilpa.
Much later in the day, Naveen's body was also found in the same house.
Later, he fled from the scene in his Santro car and drove about 60 kilometres to Ghaziabad's Bhojpur, where he killed Shilpa, alias Baby, who he reportedly loved and wanted to marry. He then killed Shilpa and Renu's father, Harinder, before shooting himself in the head around noon.
Sources said that Ravi wanted to marry Shilpa, but Renu had objected it. On Sunday, he came to Delhi and stayed at Renu and Naveen's rented house in Sanjay Colony. According to the police, the incident took place at around 9 am, when Ravi and Renu were involved in a heated argument on the former's desire to marry Shilpa. In the midst of the argument, Ravi took out a gun and opened fire at Renu. On hearing the gunshots, the landlady rushed to the room. Ravi allegedly killed the landlady then.
According to Sheila's property dealer son Dinesh, he rushed from his nearby office after hearing the gunshots and saw a man running out of his house with two firearms in his hands. Dinesh tried to catch him but he threatened to shoot him and fled in a car parked outside the house. The police initally said that Renu's husband was not in Delhi at the time of the crime. Renu's brother, who was staying with the couple, was also not present in the house.
'At the time of incident, a domestic help was in the house but she became so scared that she could not tell us anything,' a senior police official said. According to doctors, Renu suffered two bullet injuries, while Sheila was hit by three bullets.
According to sources, Renu opposed Shilpa and Ravi's match because he was not employed and educated enough.
