Traffic woes ail city

Security has been stepped up in and around the south–east zone in the city for Durga Puja festival. 'A large number of devotees are coming from every corner of Delhi, Gurgaon and Noida to these places', said a Delhi police official.

'Traffic on Outer Ring Road, including Nehru Place to IIT, will remain heavy for the next two days, due to the festival,' he added. So they have advised to avoid the Outer Ring Road from 4 pm till midnight, and instead take alternate route. 'The route towards Chittaranjan Park Market – 1, from Nehru Place flyover has been blocked. There is a possibility of slowing down of traffic and congestion,’ said a police official. Commuters are having a tough time, especially, on the route to the IGI Airport. ' I have to catch 7 pm flight. I left my house in Lajpat Nagar 4-5 hours ago, so that I don’t miss my flight due to jam,' said one Ragini Jaiswal.
