Non-stop heavy rainfall in Noida and Ghaziabad on Monday threw normal life out of gear and disrupted road traffic in many parts of the two cities with adjoining areas becoming water-logged, officials said.
Traffic signal failure in most parts of the two cities added to the traffic woes with traffic personnel forced to manually manage the vehicular moment. The worst hit was the area near the Mahamaya flyover and the DND flyway, which connects the city to the national Capital. The traffic was also crawling at the city-center, Noida Sector 18 and film city due to rainwater. Rajiv Narain Mishra, SP traffic, Noida said the heavy downpour created water logging and traffic chaos at Mahamaya flyover.
“We deployed some traffic officials on the flyway to ease the traffic and the road was cleared within in an hour,” he said. As per the reports, the traffic movement was also hit at Sector 12/22 crossing, Rajnigandha crossing, Sector-56 red light, Sandeep Mill red-light, Metro Hospital red light, Atta Market road, City Center and the road joining NH 24 at Sector 62 among others. In Ghaziabad, traffic jam was witnessed on NH 24 mainly.
