Traffic cop rapes woman

A head constable of Traffic Police has been accused of raping a 32-year-old married woman in the capital. Vijender Singh, the constable, is posted at Vikas Puri circle. Singh has been absconding since the FIR was registered in this regard.

'The woman said Singh stays in Aman Vihar, where he also runs a property business. She lives near that office. On 14 May, Singh called her at his office for some work. When she reached there, he took her to a room, where he raped her,' said a senior police officer.

The victim was sent for medical examination, which confirmed rape. Manhunt for Singh is on, he added.

On Wednesday night, locals from Aman Vihar, along with an MLA, protested in front of the police station, to expedite the police action in the case.

The woman also alleged that she used to visit his office regarding her son's admission. He had promised her that he will help her son get into a good school.

Earlier in April, another woman had claimed of being raped by a constable in south Delhi. She had said she went to the constable to complain about two boys, who had snatched her chain and purse.

The constable asked her to come to police station. But he took her to an isolated place and raped her.
