TPDDL clarifies on sacking of staff by outsourced agency

“TPDDL’s vigilance team found that these three were not reporting the actual meter reading and were also involved in a number of cases of burning of meters in collusion with the consumers to remove accurate consumption records,” TDPPL said in a statement on Friday.

The three business associates were employed with TDPPL’s outsourced agency NHCL and were part of meter-reading staff.

“When the burnt meters were sent to our meter testing lab and it was found that hefty consumptions were not recorded by the meters readers in collusion with unscrupulous consumers.

“Cases of tempering of meters against consumers have also been booked. These cases were under investigation since the past two months. These three employee were sacked by NHCL on TPDDL’s complaint a few days back after detailed departmental inquiry from the vigilance department,” it added.

The company, however, said these sacked employees tried to give it a political angle in a clever attempt to take the advantage of impending elections and to cover their unethical act by blaming the TPDDL official of Narela office for forcing them to canvass for his brother who is fighting from Narela seat on a political party ticket.

“However, it is noteworthy that TPDDL has no political affiliation and completely rejects this false allegation,” it said.
