Top seven blue chip firms lose `32,219 crore m-cap

Amid weakening stocks, the combined market capitalisation of the top seven blue-chip firms tanked by Rs 32,219 crore last week, with mortgage company HDFC taking the biggest hit.
While ITC, ONGC, Infosys, HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, Hindustan Unilever Ltd (HUL) and HDFC witnessed losses in their market value, TCS, Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) and Coal India Ltd (CIL) made gains.
HDFC's market value plunged Rs 9,378 crore to Rs 1,15,828 crore.
ITC suffered a loss of Rs 5,807 crore to Rs 2,57,363 crore in m-cap, while the value of HDFC Bank dipped by Rs 4,634 crore to Rs 1,46,013 crore
and ONGC saw an erosion of Rs 3,465 crore to Rs 2,33,650 crore.
The market cap of Hindustan Unilever Ltd slipped Rs 3,399 crore
to Rs 1,29,651 crore, while Bharti Airtel lost Rs 2,918 crore to Rs 1,34,872 crore and Infosys shed Rs 2,618 crore to Rs 1,70,037 crore.
Among the gainers, Coal India Ltd's value surged Rs 8,621 crore to Rs 1,69,404 crore, while Reliance Industries Ltd added Rs 1,989 crore to Rs 2,79,501 crore.
The market capitalisation of TCS jumped Rs 137 crore to Rs 3,61,312 crore.
In the ranking of the top 10 companies, TCS remained at the number one position, followed by Reliance Industries Ltd, ITC, ONGC, Infosys, Coal India Ltd, HDFC Bank, Bharti, Hindustan Unilever
Ltd and HDFC.
The Bombay Stock Exchange's (BSE) benchmark 30-share S&P Sensex lost 1.95 per cent to end the week at 18,789.34.
