Top Mumbai Metro officers get paid more than their boss: RTI

Half a dozen senior officers of Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MMRCL), who are on deputation, are drawing higher salaries than the company’s Managing Director, according to an RTI query.
MMRCL, a 50:50 joint venture between the Central and Maharashtra Governments, is the implementing agency for the ambitious Mumbai Metro project that seeks to improve the transportation scenario in the financial capital.
The query was filed by RTI activist Anil Galgali, who had sought information about the salaries drawn by officers and staff of the Corporation for the month of March 2016. Ganesh Ghule, the company’s Deputy Accountant and Public Information Officer, provided Galgali with a list of 119 officials and employees and their salaries.
According to the details provided by him, six senior officials –Project Director Subodh Gupta (Rs 2,08,706), System Director Ajay Kumar Bhat (Rs 2,03,346), Executive Director (Electrical) R K Sharma (Rs 1,92,945), Executive Director R Ramanna (Rs 1,82,688), CFO Indraniel Sarkar (Rs 1,51,936) and GM (Civil) Charuhas Jadhav (Rs 1,51,936) - were drawing higher salaries than their boss Ashwini Bhide (Rs 1,43,051), an IAS officer and Managing Director of MMRCL.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis draws a salary of Rs 57,000 per month in his capacity as Chairman of MMRCL, he said.
