Scores of protesters, mostly parents of students enrolled in the play-school in which a two-and-a-half-year old girl was allegedly molested by an attendant, blocked the road near the Rohini East Metro Station on Friday.
The protesters demanded that the play-school should be shut immediately and alleged that the authorities were aware of the act being committed inside its premises. ‘We are now scared that such incidents might have happened with other children too,’ said a protester.
‘There are CCTV cameras installed in the school and the footages were supposed to be monitored,’ said a protester, whose three-year-old daughter attends the play-school. She further adds that the footages were never monitored. ‘A case must be registered against them and the play-school has to be shut down immediately’, she said. However, the accused Amit Kumar, who was arrested after the incident, was recently employed by the play-school.
‘There are less chances that such things might have been happening from a long time, as alleged by the protesters, said Vikramjit Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (outer). He further said, Amit was the only male employee in the play-school.
