In a bid to control foodgrain prices in the national capital, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung on Monday met office bearers of Delhi Grain Merchants Association. Jung told them clearly that the government would start operations to make pulses available at various outlets across Delhi for maintaining proper price rates.
Jung also told them that the government was fully committed to provide the right kind of facilities and conducive environment for business. He further assured them of quick redressal of grievances of traders.
Commissioner (Food & Supplies) SS Yadav informed that during the meeting, the office bearers of the association offered whole-hearted support in controlling the prices of essential commodities, specially food grains and pulses. Yadav gave assurance to the Raj Niwas that the prevailing prices of rice and pulses are much below the prices of last year and production in the country is also higher than the previous year. The association had also joined hands with the government in the past to supply pulses at highly reasonable rates.
Jung directed him to carry out further discussion with the association and work out the modalities so that pulses can be made available to the people at highly subsidized rates. This will be one more step in the endeavor of Delhi Government to control the prices of essential commodities in the city.
