To boost cultural bonding, CBSE students visit Japan

In a unique gesture towards engaging students in cross cultural understanding and bonding, CBSE is all set to send a group of 182 students to Japan as part of a Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youth Programme (JENESYS).

According to a letter issued by the ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has asked principals of schools to send in student, teacher nominations for the project. 

CBSE is encouraging teachers and students to be a part of the JENESYS programme so as to deepen mutual understanding among young people and to lay the foundation for a future bond among youths in Asian and Oceanian countries along with mutual understanding and friendship. The programme is meant to establish basis of Asia’s stalwart solidarity and to promote interest in Japan through various exchange programmes.

CBSE proposes to nominate 350 students and 30 teachers for the cited programme. The principals of the schools affiliated to CBSE are requested to nominate students for each category (only one boy and one girl except soccer) and one teacher from their schools giving the required details for processing at CBSE’s end.

Teachers are a part of the programme to supervise the youths and cooperate with the Embassy of Japan. 

The last date for nominations is 23 July, 2014, and there are no extensions beyond the stipulated date in view of the constraint of time.
Student nominations are to be from class 9 to 12 onwards and teachers should be of a maximum age of 54 years. All expenses will be borne by the government of Japan including air travel, boarding and lodging in Japan.
