TMC spreads wings, to contest 100 seats in Lok Sabha election

At the gathering attended by about 50,000 TMC workers, including elected members, Banerjee said her party would contest in states like Assam, Nagaland, Haryana apart from West Bengal in the parliamentary elections. The responsibility for forming a strategy rests with ex-Railways minister
Mukul Ray.

However, Banerjee did not disclose whether the TMC would go for any local alliances for the polls. ‘A rally would be shortly held to begin the campaign for 2014. A particular member of the party would be made responsible for holding the campaign in each state,’ said Shishir Adhikary, ex-UPA minister and MP of TMC.

Earlier, Banerjee’s party had tied up with the Congress before the Assembly polls in Bengal in 2011. However, the TMC  went alone during the Panchayat elections this year and came out a winner.
