TMC notice to RS for discussion on curbing religious fundamentalism

Trinamool Congress gives notice to Rajya Sabha for urgent discussion on curbing religious fundamentalism across the country.

As in the past two years many incidents and provoking statements have emerged across the nation, where the opposition parties are claiming the right-wing organisations as responsible. From Dadri to Una, they are alleging the BJP led NDA government at the Center for imposing ‘Hindutva’ either in the name of the Uniform Civil Code.

Even in the last week, another pro-right leader of Shiv Sena, Uddav Thackeray, affirmed that India should be proclaimed a ‘Hindu state’. “We have to decide now. Enough of this ‘secular’ stuff. The only option left is to declare India a ‘Hindu Rashtra’ if attacks on Hindus have to be prevented,” Thackeray said.

Recently, condemning the Una incident where a Dalit family was flogged allegedly by Gau Rakshaks for skinning a cow carcass, newly inducted Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Ramdas Athawale on Saturday said the protection of cows should not be at the expense of human lives.

In another emerging attack by Gau Rakshaks, a Muslim youth was beaten up by three persons in Sohna, Haryana, for allegedly trying to smuggle beef in Mewat. While the incident occurred on May 6, one of the accused captured the incident.
