Timarpur AAP MLA not to contest election

AAP’s sitting MLA from Timarpur constituency professor Harish Khanna announced on Thursday that he would not contest in the upcoming assembly elections. Khanna said he has been feeling a little left out and unfit within the current system in the party which has forced him to take such a decision.

‘This is a tough decision for me but I don’t have any option left. I don’t have money and manpower to contest the election. The way AAP is functioning lacks internal democracy and this is another reason behind my decision. I was hurt when AAP government resigned. I felt left out and out of place. It was a decision taken by only a few,’ said Khanna. He had sent a letter to Kejriwal on 6 July this year and on Thursday said: ‘Today (Thursday) I again sent that letter to Arvind Kejriwal in which I have thanked him to give me an opportunity to serve the people and told him again that I will not contest the election. However, I have not resigned from the party,’ said Khanna.

Earlier, Rohini MLA Rajesh Garg had also said that he would not contest the election blaming autocratic approach of party convener Kejriwal.
