The victim (Usha) has sustained 65 per cent burn injuries and her condition is stated to be critical.
Singh and his son were arrested last night after the SDM recorded the statement of the victim. The victim’s mother in-law, who is paralysed is also under scanner as several times Usha has accused her of abusing her verbally. In her statement, Usha told the SDM that soon after her marriage she was being harassed for dowry by her husband and in-laws.

She further told the magistrate that on Wednesday, her father-in-law demanded dowry from her parents who refused to fulfil the demand. As a result, Gyan Singh and Nitin started beating her.

Gyan allegedly slit her wrist with a blade and then poured kerosene on her and set her ablaze.
