Tihar inmate sodomised by cops

The Delhi Police has registered a case of sodomy, which was reported from Tihar Jail on Sunday. The case has been lodged in Hari Nagar police station in West District.

A 32-year-old man, who was lodged in jail number 5, alleged he was dragged without clothes through jail number 4, 5, 7 and 8.

Then a jail superintendent, two wardens and an inmate sodomised him. There were no CCTV cameras in the campus, however, to support the victim’s claim.

He further claimed that the jail superintendent, identified as Yogesh, used to take bribe from them, but the victim often refused. Earlier also, said the complainant, he has been threatened by the superintendent.

‘On the day of the incident, the jail superintendent came to me and asked for money. But I refused. This made him angry,’ he said.

Reportedly, Yogesh then took the victim out and then removed his clothes. He then tied his hands and legs with a rope. After that he started beating him up.

Then Gangadhar and Gagan, the two accused wardens slapped him several times. After that, Yogesh along with Jafar, an inmate, sodomised the victim.

Sources said a few days ago, the victim was produced before the Saket Court where he had complained about the sodomy. The judge then ordered medical examination, which confirmed the victim’s claim.

Additional CP of West Delhi, V Ranganathan, said three days ago, an FIR was lodged under Section 325/377/34 of IPC, on the basis of which further investigation is going on. But no arrest has been made as yet.
