Three-year-old girl dies after falling from fourth floor balcony

A three-year-old girl died when she fell from the balcony of a house in East Delhi’s Trilokpuri area, police said on Tuesday. The girl was rushed to the local hospital by her parents but she was declared brought dead on arrival. The police have ruled out any foulplay in the accident but are investigating the case.

The incident took place on Monday when the girl, Nidhi, was playing on the fourth floor of the house. While she was playing, she suddenly fell from the fourth floor balcony of the house. “Her relatives had informed us about the incident. We had sent in a team to investigate the case. It appears that the girl fell from the balcony while she was playing. She had sustained fatal injuries and the doctors had declared her brought dead,” said a senior police official.

The girl’s relatives have claimed that Nidhi used to frequently play in the area. The police are questioning the girl’s relatives but have ruled out foulplay into the incident. 

“We have taken the girl’s body to the local mortuary for post-mortem after which her body will be handed over to her parents for her final rites. We do not suspect any foulplay in the matter but will investigate the matter from all angles,” said a senior police official.
