Three persons get 2 years jail for conspiracy, robbing Rs 750

A local court has sentenced three persons to two years rigorous jail term for hatching a criminal conspiracy and robbing Rs 750 from a man.
Additional Sessions Judge Naresh Kumar Malhotra sentenced Delhi residents Narender Verma, Deepak Verma and Amit Kumar for robbing the complainant, a rickshaw driver, and beating him up.
“I am of the view that the prosecution is able to prove that accused Narender had hatched a conspiracy along with other co accused persons namely Deepak and Amit to commit robbery and give beatings to the complainant,” the judge said and also imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 along with the sentence. As per the prosecution case, accused Narender hatched a conspiracy along with other accused to commit robbery and beat the complainant as there was a dispute between them, prior to this incident.
The court convicted all the three persons, of the offences under section 392 (Punishment for robbery) read with Section 120B (criminal conspiracy) of Indian Penal Code.
The prosecution claimed that on March 19, 2014, the accused and his friends hired the e-rickshaw of complainant Shravan Kumar and when they reached Paschim Vihar here, they mischievously stopped the rickshaw and tried to rob him. One of the co-accused injured Shravan Kumar with knife when he resisted.
After the melee, public gathered and apprehended Amit Kumar while rest of them managed to flee. The court said the prosecution was able to prove the guilt of the accused persons.
The court also noted that accused Amit was not able to defend his presence at the scene of crime and the complainant had identified all the accused. Court dismissed the claims raised by the defence counsel that no weapons were recovered by the police.
