Two painters died while they were white washing a wall from the fourth floor of a building in East Delhi’s Madhu Vihar area on Thursday. In a similar incident, a 20-year-old labourer died when he too fell from the third floor while white washing a wall in North-east Delhi’s Shahdara area on Thursday.
In the first incident, the two painters — Kamlesh and the other yet to be identified — were painting the outer wall of a building when the swing which they made out of rope broke. Sources said that Kamlesh was the first to fall. After which, the other unidentified victim too tried to maintain balance but he too fell down.
A guard of the building heard the thud sound and raised an alarm. Locals gathered and informed the police after which both the painters were taken to a nearby hospital where they were declared brought dead.
Police are trying to establish the identity of the second deceased. Meanwhile, the bodies of both the victims have been kept in the mortuary.
In the second incident, a 20-year-old painter, Akhilesh was hanging by the rope when the rope broke loose and he fell down from the third floor. Locals present at the spot and raised an alarm after which police came to the spot and rushed him to GTB hospital where he was declared brought dead. Police are trying to get in touch with his family. Further investigation is still on.
