Three juveniles held for killing shopkeeper in south east Delhi

In a bizarre incident, three minors have been apprehended for murdering a shopkeeper, who allegedly used to harass them by asking them to fetch cigarettes and tea for him. All the juveniles are below 15 years.

The deceased has been identified as Shivam (20), who ran a mobile recharge coupon shop in south-east Delhi’s Jaitpur area. After the arrest the apprehended juveniles told police that Shivam used to harass them by asking them to get cigarettes and tea from the market. None of them were employed at his shop.

All the accused are the residents of JJ colony, Madanpur Khadar in Jaitpur area. In the evening, all of them used to play near Shivam shops. ‘Everytime Shivam notice them, he used to call them to his shop and instruct them to bring cigarette and tea. Whenever they refused, he used to harass them by using abusive language, a police official said quoting accused’s confession.

On late Sunday evening, when the trio were playing near Shivam’s shop, he again instructed them to bring cigarette and tea. All three boys reached his shop and started beating him. Leaving Shivam in a pool of blood, the juveniles fled the spot.

A call to the police control room was made by a nearby shopkeeper who was the eye-witness. When the team reached the spot he was rushed to the nearby hospital where the doctors declared him dead on arrival. On Monday morning, all three juveniles were arrested and have been sent to the juvenile home.
Recently, on Saturday three juveniles were found guilty in attacking two Delhi University students hailing from Manipur. The accused initially passed racial comments on them and later the verbal alteration turned violent. All of them have been arrested.
