A man, wanted by Haryana Police in an attempt to murder case, has been arrested by Crime Branch, police said on Wednesday. ‘Basanta alias Magga, a resident of Arjun Nagar in Panipat, was arrested from near Indrapastha Metro station on Monday on specific inputs and a country made pistol and two live rounds were recovered from his possession,’ DCP (crime and railways) S B S Tyagi said. With his arrest, a sensational case of attempt to murder of Bahadurgarh district in Haryana has been worked out, Tyagi said. During interrogation, the 32-year-old man confessed to have shot at one Raj Singh alias Kala of his village Maa Dhoti of Bahadurgarh on 25 October. Singh, however, managed to escape. ‘Basanta was wanted by Haryana police and they were trailing him and his associates in Delhi and Haryana but the accused was continuously changing his hideouts,’ the DCP said. Basanta was produced in the court of ACMM New Delhi district at Patiala House Courts on Tuesday, he said, adding that local police have been informed about the arrest.
