With the arrest of three men, officials of the Uttar Pradesh STF have claimed to have busted a gang of illegal arm dealers and have recovered country-made arms and ammunition from their possession.
STF officials claimed that three were involved in arms smuggling and were active for years. They allegedly used to supply guns in Delhi, Haryana, UP and MP. “They used to purchase arms and ammunition from Munger in Bihar and several parts of MP. They sold these to their clients across North India,” said RK Mishra, DSP (STF).
Officials received a tip-off that some people, carrying arms in a Bolero car, would pass through the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway.
“An STF team surrounded the gangsters near Mohiyapur underpass and stopped them for checking. Three members came out from the car with bags containing arms. When told to open the car’s rear door, the other gang members drove past taking benefit of dense fog,” said the official, adding that the dealers were bringing arms from Mathura.
