Three gun runners held in E Delhi, 18 pistols recovered

As many as 18 pistols were recovered from their possession, which they had concealed in the door of the their SUV car.

‘One of the men who were held, is a wanted king pin of the trade, identified as Robin Singh, a resident of Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh,’ said a senior police official. He further said, Khargone and its surrounding areas in Madhya Pradesh have emerged as the new hub of firearms amongst the criminals of Delhi-NCR.

The Special Cell, which has been tracking peddlers of illicit firearms, on Wednesday, got a tip-off that wanted gun runner Robin Singh would be coming to Delhi in a Mahindra Bolero SUV, along with his associates for supplying arms to someone in Delhi.

‘Accordingly, our team laid a trap on the Nallah Road, near New Ashok Nagar Metro Station and in early afternoon hours, a Bolero vehicle bearing UP registration number was intercepted. The occupants of the car were overpowered and apprehended. As many as 18 illegal pistols of 7.65 calibre, which were concealed in gate of the SUV were recovered,’ Rajeev Ranjan, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell).

The accused were identified as Robin Singh (25), Dharmender Singh (25) and Inder Jeet (22). all residents of Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh.

‘Robin Singh, who is wanted in two separate cases by Special Cell, revealed that during the last two years, he was in touch with various firearm manufacturers of Khargone and had procured over 250 weapons from them for sale in Delhi-NCR,’ said Ranjan.
