Three people including two men and a woman were found dead along with an injured person near the railway tracks of the Sarojini Nagar railway station in South Delhi in the early hours of Friday.
According to the preliminary investigation by the railway police, out of the three, two have been identified as Ramesh, a cook at the house of a senior Delhi Police official and a woman identified as Meena. They were allegedly hit by a train when they were trying to cross the tracks.
Police have not ruled out the possibility of a foul play yet. Locals at the railway station claimed that they had fallen from the train on Thursday night. However, police said that they cannot confirm this yet.
“We got a call at around 6:30 am when some locals found the three bodies. All of them had serious head injuries while Ramesh’s arm was found to be severed from his body,” said Dumbere Milind Mahadeo, DCP (Railways).
According to the police, the team found Meena’s husband, Surajbhaan, severely injured who was sitting in an inebriated condition at a corner on one of the platforms. He was rushed to the AIIMS Trauma center and after treatment he was discharged from the hospital. Once he was found fit to give a statement, he identified the body of the woman, Meena and Ramesh, his friend.
However, the identity of the third man could be not established yet.
Railway police officials first took the bodies of Ramesh, Meena and the unidentified man to the AIIMS Trauma Centre which were later sent to the Subzi Mandi mortuary in Old Delhi. Ramesh was a resident of Moti Bagh while Surajbhaan and Meena lived in the R K Puram area of South Delhi.
According to the senior railway official, they have started the investigation and are questioning Surajbhaan who was the sole eyewitness in the case.
