Three candidates with the same name for West Delhi Lok Sabha seat

Jarnail Singh, Aam Aadmi Party candidate from West Delhi, has accused opposition parties of putting up two dummy candidates with the same name. These two candidates, contesting as independents, haven’t begun campaigning yet. In the heat of election season, AAP has viewed such tactics as a means to sabotage the party’s chances.

Not naming any party in particular, AAP’s Jarnail Singh has alleged that theses dummy candidates have been put up to cut into his vote share adding that ‘people are not fools to be misguided by these dirty tricks of these established political parties.’

He pointed towards the similarities in the affidavits of both independent candidates. First of all, their affidavits have been prepared by the same person named Mithlesh Agarwala on the same day. Interestingly, both ‘Jarnail Singhs’ and their wives possess 22 grams of Gold valued at Rs 70,000. Not just that, both the candidates asked for ‘torch’, a symbol AAP claims is similar to its broom, as their first preference for an election symbol.

‘The above similarities clearly indicate that these are dummy candidates. They have been intentionally put up to misguide the voters. How can there be so many similarities between two people of the same name ‘, said Jarnail Singh of AAP. He also added that he knew people whose names were similar to those of other candidates but didn’t want to indulge in dirty politics. ‘We (AAP) are here to clean the politics and not follow similar tactics. What difference will we make if we also start indulge in dirty politics,’ Singh said.

Meanwhile, the two independent Jarnail Singhs remain unavailable for comment on the matter. While a phone call to one of the independent candidates remain unanswered, the other said that he is out of the city and will soon start his election campaign.
