Three arrested for killing woman in Neb Sarai

According to the police, the accused have been identified as Monty (19), Ravi (19) and Athar Rehman (26). Senior police officers of the South district said that Monty was madly in love with the victim, Aarti, alias Simran, who used to share flat with a woman.

Police said that after Aarti separated from her husband, Sunny, she started living in Neb Sarai for
the last two months. She befriended Monty. They were together for a while, however, she started seeing another man. Enraged over this, Monty hatched a plan to kill Aarti. Police also revealed that Athar, one of the arrested accused, is the kingpin of the Sangam Vihar gang-rivalry in which one Ramakant Rao was shot dead in August 2015.

In the early hours of July 9, police received information that a woman was lying motionless with injury marks on her neck at Neb Sarai. During investigation, cops found that Aarti used to share the rented accommodation with a woman. Since she was separated from her husband, Aarti’s family alleged that Sunny was behind her murder.

Based on the call details of Aarti, police got to know that she was in touch with Monty. Technical surveillance was mounted on him. Through local intelligence, Monty was apprehended on July 13 near BRT Corridor at Khanpur. On Monty’s instance, Athar was apprehended from Tigri Border and the next day, Ravi was also apprehended.

During interrogation, the accused confessed to killing Aarti. A minor scuffle broke out between Monty and Aarti over Rs 5000 which she had given him. When she demanded that he return back the money, he became furious and he slit her throat with a knife while Ravi held her.
