Three accused held in Laxmi Nagar murders

Four days after an elderly woman and her daughter, both widows, were found murdered in their east Delhi residence in the Laxmi Nagar area, Delhi police has arrested three persons including a woman in connection with the crime.

According to sources, the case has been solved. Officials conducted raids at several areas on Thursday on the lookout for the three before they were finally arrested. The three have been identified as Vandana, her husband Prem and Vandana’s friend Urmila. Vandana was one of the domestic helps at the house in Laxmi Nagar’s J-Block where the two widows Ramwati (85) and Rajni Thakur (55) lived. Officials who arrested the three accused have said that 'the motive behind the murder was robbery.’

On Monday,  at approximately 9 am, police received a call from another domestic help, Anita, informing them of the double murder. Anita had reported for work on Monday, and when no one opened the door after she repeatedly rang the doorbell, she pushed the door to find it open. She discovered the two bodies lying in a pool of blood on the floor. The house had also been ransacked.
