The world’s first 'intelligent-powered' automated teller machine (ATM) has been launched in India by Diebold.
The Diebold 429 automated teller machine has been specifically designed to meet the increasing demand for a robust self-service terminal and expansion of banking services in urban and rural areas of India that could not be reached due to economic or technical constraints, Diebold Vice-President (Asia Pacific) Wico van Genderen said here on Friday.
'This automated teller machine will meet the needs of deployers in India and other emerging economies globally facing similar challenges while also enhancing security, functionality and availability to end-users, he said.
Its security features include card readers, biometric technology, as well as many provision for dual security cameras.
The automated teller machine also has bar code readers which can detect frauds, including fake currencies, by reading single currency notes of Rs 500 and 1,000.
