Performed by Vir Das, Battle of Da Sexes took on the Mars versus Venus fight to the stage and took it right away from the Delhi audience. The absolutely hilarious take on the clashes, issues and clichés that puts the male and the female where they are socially and biologically, all came to the fore in this performance.
Speaking to Millennium Post, Das said that after History of India, this funny man was looking for a chance to misbehave and Battle of Da Sexes it was. 'After history it’s now time to move onto chemistry. The show is an intellectual comedy based on scientific facts, which will give you a different perspective on your respective other. This show is very close to my heart since I’ve written the script myself after a lot of research and experimentation. We've been patriotic and poignant for two years, now let’s have some fun and misbehave!' says Das.
The audience were made to sit separately according to their sexes and to put it simply it was a one-on-one face-off where one sex won at the end of the show.
The producer, Ashvin Gidwani expects this upcoming play to be a rage amongst Vir's fans. He says, 'After a series of houseful performances, History Of India still runs to packed auditoriums. It has been titled as the largest selling comedy show ever. After History of India, we have worked hard to produce a show which holds very innovative and fascinating content that will undoubtedly appeal to the new age. I am very excited about the launch of this show. Not only does Vir have a string of stand-up shows across the world to his credit, he has also made a mark for himself in Bollywood.'
And he is right! If you missed it this time, make sure you catch it whenever next!
