The conflict between Gandhi & Ambedkar

Ambedkar <g data-gr-id="41">aur</g> Gandhi the dynamic socio-political play, presented by Arvind Gaur’s Asmita theatre group, gives you an intellectually stimulating experience. It revolves around the debate between Gandhi and Ambedkar.

The play is a political dialogue on the social concerns of feudal society. It showcases the conflicting thoughts of the two political stalwarts with a similar aim but different means.

Talking about the character of Gandhi, played by actor Gaurav Mishra, he says, “It has been the most challenging role so far.

My mind played like a time machine, to think like him, his body language, to upgrade my thinking abilities like him has been my priority throughout. Besides reading about this dynamic personality, under the guidance of Arvind Gaur has helped me get into the skin of the character.” The issue of upliftment of Harijans and plight of the Dalits is a significant thread expressed in the play.

“Ambedkar, the fiery man let out his ideology to the people, through his candid nature. The outspoken person with a never <g data-gr-id="32">sit</g> idle attitude triggered me to justify this role better. The role is very close to my heart as I  tried to understand his ideology,” says Bajrang Bali Singh who essays the role of Ambedkar.

Director Arvind Gaur says, “This play operates at many levels to show the multiple layers of the thought processes of both the leaders and the confrontation due to the differences between them. This kind of bold theatre forces us to change pre-set notions.”
