Tharoor is international love guru, says BJP

Labelling minister of state for human resource development, Shashi Tharoor, as the international love guru, the BJP toed the line taken by Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi. A party leader said on Wednesday that Tharoor should be made minister of love affairs.
‘I am very much impressed by his answer in which he has said that you need to be able to love someone to understand that. I think a ministry of love affairs should be made for such an international love guru so that the nation can gain from his wisdom and preaching,’ said BJP vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.
In an election rally, Modi had called Tharoor’s wife Sunanada Pushkar ‘a Rs 50 crore girlfriend’. The newly appointed minister of state had tweeted that his wife is priceless and Modi needs to be able to love someone to understand that.
The remark by Narendra Modi had drawn sharp criticism on the internet and on Wednesday Sunanda Pushkar asked Modi to show respect to women and not stoop to such level. ‘I have nothing to say to Narendra Modi. A man who has not apologised for killings of innocent Gujaratis in his state, how would I expect apology from him,’ said Pushkar.
Tharoor had support from his senior ministerial colleague, HRD minister MM Pallam Raju, who said that Modi’s remark was in bad taste.
