Tewari unhappy over poor utilisation of central funds

Presiding over the meeting of the District Vigilance and Monitoring Committee as its chairman, Tewari took exception to very low spending on MGNREGA Scheme in Ludhiana. Tewari observed that out of the targeted Rs 150 crore, only Rs 11 crore has so far been spent in Ludhiana this year, and asked deputy commissioner Rajat Aggarwal to investigate the matter. In one of the districts in Rajasthan, Rs 200 crore has been spent in a single year, he said in the meeting.

He said that the concerned officials must be held accountable for such wrong projections, where it was said that Rs 150 crores would be spent, but actually only Rs 11 crore has so far been spent.
Tewari also took to task the officials whom he found coming to the meeting without preparation.

Co-chairman of the committee and Fatehgarh Sahib MP, S S Libra, said officials do not keep the local representatives informed about various works like the social audit on MGNREGA.
